November 1/2014 Update and Help Request

As a result of the outage described in October 9/2014 Update, I have moved the BID Community website behind CloudFlare, a service that has demonstrated its ability to manage Distributed Denial of Service attacks, provides an additional layer of spammer/hacker filters and improves website responsiveness.  An additional benefit is that it can enable secure browsing between the end-user and CloudFlare.  I need your help in testing how well this service works.  Please visit https://bioinspired.sinet.ca and let me know if you see any problems.  At the moment, the https:// prefix that enables the secure browsing does not always 'stick' as you move around the site - that will be resolved when I enable it as the default method of accessing the BID Community website.

My local spammer/hacker filters are now using CloudFlare to block the miscreants.  The good news is that I won't even see the traffic.  The bad news is that CloudFlare has a long memory.  If you get a message about being blocked by CloudFlare, please contact me ASAP so that I can clear the 'watch list'.

I sometimes find out about events only days before they occur which means they may not appear in the Upcoming Events: section.  You can be notified when new events are created by:

  • logging in with your BID Community username/password so that the system can retrieve your email address
  • go to any event and look for the Subscriptions button near the bottom of the screen
  • click on Subscribe to: Posts of type Event
