Call for Papers: Fibers2011 Symposium

Start:
Fri, 2011/07/01
Location:
Charleston, South Carolina, USA

The call for papers for the International Symposium on New Frontiers in Fiber Materials Science has been extended to July 1, 2011.  See attachments below for additional information.

Fibers as Building Blocks of Advanced Materials, the symposium theme, is a response to and reflection of recent advances in nanoscience and technology. Driven by a growing demand from the biomedical, energy, transportation, and communications sectors for materials necessary for new and diverse applications, Fiber Materials Science and Engineering is being challenged to find solutions.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I would like to introduce you to the symposium briefly described below; a more full description and the initial CFP are attached. As you can see , I am chairing the minisymposium on Biomimetics for Fiber Science. I am glad to report that the Symposium has received much interest and a positive reception. At this time, we have a strong cohort of attendees from several universities and companies. A partial list includes Cambridge University; Tokyo Institute of Technology; Seoul National University; Deakin University
in Australia; EMPA, Switzerland; Université de Haute Alsace, France; CNRS/National Institute of Applied Science; Donghua and Soochow Universities, China; Naval Research Lab; Argonne Research Lab; Georgia
Institute of Technology; Princeton University, Harvard University; and Cornell University. In addition, we have support and interest from the (US) National Science Foundation.

In response to multiple suggestions, we have decided to continue to accept abstracts until July 1, 2011. As the abstracts continue to come in, submitted papers will be screened by the Organizing Committee. If you or your colleague would like to submit a paper, please go to http://www.fibers2011.org, click on Abstract Submission and then click on Submit an Abstract. This link will take you to an account manager where you will create an account. Once created, the account will allow you to submit an abstract.

Professor Julian Vincent, University of Bath, UK, has graciously agreed to be the plenary speaker for this event.

I am hoping to see many of you there in the beautiful city of Charleston, SC. You may contact me directly if you have any questions.
