PhD fellowship Biomimicry in Architectural Design at The University of Akron

The Biomimicry Research and Innovation Center BRIC at the University of Akron invites applications for the position of a PhD student in Biomimicry in the field of Architecture in Dr. Petra Gruber's lab. For upcoming research and development projects we are looking for a highly motivated architecture or design graduate, interested in the field of biomimicry and its application to solve real world problems using experimental design approaches. Current projects and research interests include thermodynamics of plants, structural properties of entangled media, biohybrid structural materials and design for living architecture systems.

The candidate should be able to support the group with knowledge and experience in computational and parametric design, programming and simulation, and use of advanced fabrication tools. Interest in scientific research and motivation to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries are required. Teaching experience and international experience are welcome.

The fellowship is allocated in the 5 year Integrated Bioscience PhD program of Biomimicry at the University of Akron, and is supported by a wide range of departments and faculty members. Candidates for Fall 2018 need to send the required documents until 4th of May 2018. Applications are reviewed until the position is filled.
