PEGASUS Video Course on TRIZ/BioTRIZ

This video course allows you to transfer ideas from living Nature to engineering using special tools for cross-disciplinary inspirations. It is fun for students and powerful aid for professors who teach innovation and creativity (2 hours 43 min of run time of all seven films of PEGASUS is full of entertaining examples, animations, practical demonstrations, impressive stories and case studies).

In fact, with this videos we wanted to assist people who would like to learn TRIZ but do not have time (or have spare time only in their leisure activities time budget). So, we shoehorned a semester introductory course on TRIZ and because it is much better to spend 3 hours of watching entertaining video that shows the essence of the system, than to spend weeks on reading 500 pages of a book to extract this essence by yourself.

Film 1: Inventive Mind

“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” (Albert Einstein). You may be surprised that a whole variety of problems fit nicely into only two models, and a whole variety of solutions can be described with just 40 general principles. You decide which model best suits your situation and get the answer.

Film 2: Core of a Challenge

We often do not see the solution, because we cannot see the problem. You learn how to state you challenge in such a way that solution appears on a surface.

Film 3: Ideal Final Result

Why not to start from the end: from the solution itself? The Ideal Final Result describes the simplest solution to a problem ignoring any constraints; it is that “miracle” you would like to have.

Film 4: Context

You learn how to investigate the problem in various contexts where the problem may surface. Look for the contexts where your challenge never appears!

Film 5: Resources

If the project requires a lot of additional resources (material, time, money, etc.) then it is the wrong path to the solution. This film shows how to turn any waste or harm into benefit.

Film 6: Contradictions and Resolutions

Do not be afraid of contradictions, search for them. If you can see the obstacles you use them for your benefit, if you do not see them, they will hold you back from your dream.

Film 7: Alphabet for Win-Win Solutions

There is a limited number of thinking patterns that lead to breakthrough solutions. Such patterns are called inventive principles. Use inventive principles to spark your creativity.

The link at the very top of

The link at the very top of the page, www.triz.technology/, didn't work. It seemed to try to link to a page called "www.triz.technology" on sinet.ca.

However, http://www.triz.technology does work.

Coverage of BioTRIZ in PEGASUS Videos

I asked Olga how much the PEGASUS videos cover BioTRIZ and received the following response:

We use TRIZ for problem definition and further steps of the work in biomimetic projects. The rules for considering of different aspects of a challenge in PEGASUS are derived from living systems (Films 2 and 4). The approach to resources and pollutions is totally BioTRIZ's invention (Film 5 "Resources" in PEGASUS) and  is absent in the conventional ("iron") TRIZ. We also plan to make pure biomimtic BioTRIZ addition to these films afterwards, because BioTRIZ knowledge-transfer mechanism is easier to learn after basic TRIZ course. It is much better to spend 3 hours of watching  entertaining video that shows the essence of the system, than to spend weeks on reading 500-pages book to extract this essence. So PEGASUS has a lot of BioTRIZ "flavour".
