Special Issue "Biomimetics from Concept to Reality"

2020/04/30 manuscript submission date now end of July

Julian Vincent has been asked to help edit a special issue of Biomimetics (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/biomimetics/special_issues/biomimetics_concept_reality).  From https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=BIOMIMETICS;cb22a459.1912:

I’d like to explore and delineate the chain that goes from concept (daydream, solution to a problem?) to product. Few people have made the entire journey, but it’s the only journey that can justify our area of interest. It seems to be a general rule that only 1% of initial concepts result in a commercially viable product, whether object or process, so we can’t all expect success. But with the increasing number of people working in the general interface area between biology and technology, are there enough successes to validate the approach? How is success attained or measured?

Manuscripts are due end of July, 2020.
