December 18/2016 Update and Season's Greetings!

The elves at Zygote Quarterly have been busy again this year, publishing three more issues and collaborating with NASA Glenn Research Center, Ohio Aerospace Institute, and Great Lakes Biomimicry on a special edition highlighting the first Biomimicry Summit and Education Forum for Aerospace (ZQ18 will be published as soon as final approvals are complete).  Thanks to the work of Raúl de Villafranca and his team at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and Manuel Quiròs in Madrid, three more issues (ZQ15, ZQ14 and ZQ13) have been translated to Spanish, for a total of eight so far.

The Canadian ISO/TC 266 team has continued to work on the Biomimetic Assessment Framework.  To test the usability of the assessment criteria developed by Fil Salustri in 2015, we created a workbook to guide completion of the Assessment and used it to documented the PowerCone described in Putting the Nosecone to Work.  We continue to explore ways of increasing the relevance of ISO/TC 266 to the broader community through the new ISO/TC 266 Chair's Advisor Group and publishing Advancing Biomimetic Materials Through ISO Standards in Bioinspired, Biomimetic and Nanobiomaterials.

In April, the INCOSE Natural Systems Working Group published a special edition of the quarterly magazine INSIGHT on the theme of Natural Systems, with contributions from a number of BID Community members.  All the articles are publicly available.

Best Wishes for the Holidays!
