The Future of the BID Community Website

The BID Community has about 300 registered members.  I received eight responses to the survey at https://limesurvey.sinet.ca/277467.   To get a sense of what sections/features were useful in the current website, and which were worth preserving in a static copy of the website, I mapped High>3, Medium->2, and Low->1, then added up the scores.

There is sufficient interest in maintaining a static copy of the existing website, something I will look into early next year.  The current website has a general search facility as well as the ability to search within views such as Resources - I will try to find something comparable for the static website.

In terms of what a relaunched website might provide:

  • ability to set up user profiles to help members connect
  • links to other biomimicry research groups
  • access to biomimetic databases and tools
  • upcoming events
  • Zygote Quarterly notifications (these are available now by subscribing at https://zqjournal.org/subscribe.html)
  • support learning and sharing knowledge
  • staying connected
  • partnership opportunities

I will post more information to this forum as the migration progresses.

Thanks for your work... feel free to pick my brains.

Norbert,

Since I have a bit of background in this, I am willing to let you pick my brains about possible alternatives.

But go easy on me next semester - I have to teach the Frosh....
