BioInspired! So What? Now What!

Happy New Year!  We broke the 100-member mark on January 2^nd.  As of this afternoon, we have 102 registered users including the Advisory Group.  For those of you who registered before December 21st, Finding Your Way Around the Website collects a number of hints and tips. 

 

Check out the comments to The Hunt for a Bio-Inspired Designer as well as The Evolutionary Basis for the Chemical Defense of Bombardier Beetles.  A new public-access BID Recognition forum includes University of Leeds Team wins Times Higher Education Award (kudos to Prof. Andy McIntosh) and Biomimicry On JWTIntelligence's "100 things to watch in 2011". 

 

One of the goals for 2011 is to identify initiatives that will deliver value to members, where members can contribute and that will help attract new members.  Emer has posted two potential dates for the Turning Ideas Into Reality Skype conference call: January 25th and February 1st (final call details at 'Turning Ideas Into Reality' Conference Call: 16PST, 19EST, 00UTC).  Please update the linked online calendar so that he can identify the best date/time(s).  Also, pass the information to students of bio-inspired design courses/workshops who might be interested in participating and encourage them to register on the website.

 

Lastly, please provide input on the BID Community 'Participation Rebate', one approach to managing the cost of paid membership.  Abstracts of other articles currently under development can be reviewed at Future Newsletter Articles.
